MINDFUL DANCING

Mindful Dancing is a 3-day professional development workshop designed for K-12 dance professionals, artists in the schools, university students and dance faculty. Participants will work with renowned dance educators: Renay Aumilier, EE Balcos and Mila Parrish. Each day, the participants will: develop and hone their abilities to “tune in” to their inner modes of expression through Somatic and Laban-based approaches to dance literacy; create dances that capture their intentions through mindful inquiries of their own movement language; and translate internal processes into collective forums, with the goal of establishing and enhancing community partnerships, developing a platform for critical review of and responses to each other’s artistic visions. Instruction is rooted in learning through movement experiences, pedagogical deconstruction and reflection.
