Compassion

LESSON THREE  The Three Questions

Element of Compassion: helping

Dance Content: Relationship (individuals to each other, groups to each other), shape (shape forms)

The students will:

  • discuss the value of helping.

  • experiment with using helping words to inspire movement.

  • examine helping within a peer relationship.

  • create choreography about a problem and the result of help.

Lesson 3, based on the children's book "The Three Questions," allows students to learn about helping as a part of showing compassion for others. A "helping" improvisation serves as a way for students to learn about abstraction of movement and for them to find movement inspired by helping words. They will also create dances about situation in which they would help someone or need help. The dance content for this lesson focuses on relationship and shape.
